World class performances at MAC for Seniors Festival
Published on 04 October 2017
Mildura Arts Centre is building on the success of last year’s Mildura Seniors Festival by presenting the stunning production Lanza Sings Again, by Promac Productions, as part of this year’s festival.
Audiences will learn about talented opera singer Mario Lanza’s incredible life story and hear the classic hits he made famous before his unfortunate death at just 38.
One of Australia’s most loved and dynamic tenors, Roy Best, will play the lead role, while Alison Jones will play the role of Kathryn Grayson, who was Mario Lanza’s preferred soprano.
This fascinating story will be narrated by Chris McKenna, with the performers accompanied on piano by international concert pianist Len Vorster.
Mildura Rural City Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said local audiences will be “blown away” by these world class performances.
“This is yet another example of our Mildura Arts Centre providing a chance for local audiences to see international-standard performances in their own town,” Cr Modica said.
“The free afternoon tea provided in the foyer after the performance will be the icing on the cake to a lovely afternoon out.”
Songs will include Be My Love, Drink Drink, Granada, Strangers in Paradise, ‘O sole mio, and The Loveliest Night of the Year.
