This year’s Mildura Rural City Council 2019 Youth Art Prize winners will be announced at a special event on Wednesday 21 August.

To be held at the Mildura Visitor Information and Booking Centre (inside the Alfred Deakin Centre in Deakin Avenue), the awards presentation night will get under way from 5.30pm.

The exhibition is open for the month of August and the community are encouraged to come down and vote for their favourite piece of art – one vote per person.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole said all entrants and their families and friends are encouraged to attend the awards night.

“The presentation of our Youth Art Prize awards is a chance to recognise the artistic talent of our region’s younger residents,” Cr Poole said.

“It’s also a great opportunity for their friends and family to not only support them, but appreciate the works of art they’ve been able to produce.”

This year’s Youth Art Prize attracted 95 entries across a broad range of genres and formats, including drawing, painting, photography, graphic design and 3D art.

One winner will be awarded in each artistic section and year level, each receiving a $100 prize. There will also be an opportunity to win another $200 for the overall ‘Peoples’ Choice’ award.

This month’s announcement of winners evening is free and will include light refreshments.
