Extreme and Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings
Our waste and recycling services can be impacted by the Fire Danger Rating (FDR). If the FDR is Extreme, we are prohibited from travelling in areas of Bush Fire Risk, including through national parks and state forests.
Fire Danger Ratings are forecast using Bureau of Meteorology data. To learn more, visit the VicEmergency website.
Extreme Rating
On days of an Extreme Fire Danger Rating, we may not be able to empty kerbside bins in some areas.
Areas that may be impacted include:
- Hattah
- Ouyen
- Underbool
- Walpeup
- Murrayville
- Nangiloc
- Colignan
In these instances, collection services will be rescheduled. We will empty your bins as soon as possible, subject to the Fire Danger Rating.
We will make every effort to notify you about schedule changes, by sending SMS alerts, broadcasting information on local radio and via social media.
Catastrophic Rating
On days of a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating, all our waste or recycling services must stop. This includes:
- No kerbside bin collections
- All Landfill and Transfer Stations are closed
- No street sweeping
In these instances, bin collection services will be rescheduled and resume as soon as possible, subject to the Fire Danger Rating.
We will notify you about schedule changes with alerts on our website, broadcasting information on local radio and via social media.
