Youth Action Team

Mildura Rural City Council’s Youth Action Team is a group of passionate young people aged between 12 and 25 who create and deliver music, arts and cultural events for other young people in their local community.

The program gives young people the opportunity to make a difference, learn new skills and bring fresh ideas to life.

What will my role be? / What’s involved?

As part of the Youth Action Team, you’ll:

  • Work as a team to lead, plan and deliver events and activities for young people
  • Attend monthly meetings
  • Develop skills in event management through hands-on experience and training
  • Connect with local businesses, schools, and community groups
  • Create spaces where young people can connect, express themselves, and have fun in their community
  • Promote events and get more young people involved
  • Take part in social and team building activities

Who can join?

  • Anyone aged between 12 and 25
  • Interested to learn new skills and gain hands-on experience
  • Available to commit to meetings, events and activities

When and where do we meet?

The team meets face-to-face each fortnight at Mildura Rural City Council’s Deakin Avenue office. Meeting times will be set based on team availability.

How long is the commitment?

The Youth Action Team runs for a 6-month term, with the option to continue for another 6 months.

Past events

In 2024 the team hosted:

  • Youth Showcase – Celebrating young talent in music, arts, and performance
  • The Beat – A live music event featuring local and emerging artists
  • Pop Up Music Activations – Bringing live music to local spaces
  • Pool Parties – Summer fun with music, games, and activities
  • Youth Discos – High-energy dance nights for young people

Requirements

This is a volunteer role and a great way to gain experience, meet new people, and build skills for the future!

If you are over 18 a current Working with Children Check is required.
